A man who drunkenly crashed his Nissan Navara into a letter box told a court he went back to the scene to apologise and “clean up the mess”.

Around 10pm on July 3, police were called to a car crash where a ute had run off the road.

When police arrived Graham McLeod told officers he had been drinking at the pub before losing control of the car on his way home.

He was taken to the police station where he refused to give a breath test.

He pleaded guilty at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday to failing to provide a breath test to police.

Mr McLeod told the court he returned to the crash site and apologised to the owner and that he cleaned up the letter box he smashed.

“I’m sorry for what happened,” he said.

“I went round to the lady’s house and cleaned up the mess I made.”

He was fined $750 and his licence was disqualified from driving for six months.

Wild Turkey lands disqualified driver in court

A woman was caught at almost twice the legal limit after she was pulled over for her licence being disqualified.

Sharmayne Patricia Sellick was pulled after police automatic licence plate scanners discovered her licence was disqualified.

She was breath tested at the scene and blew a blood alcohol 0.09.

Sellick pleaded guilty in writing at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to drink driving and driving while her licence was disqualified.

When pulled over she told police she was going out to dinner with her drunk a number of Wild Turkey cans. She was fined $700 and disqualified for six months for driving while disqualified and three months for drink driving.

“A very expensive packet of peanuts”

A man who walked out of Coles with a bag of peanuts without paying has been warned to clean up his behaviour.

Batuklal Nandha pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to unlawful taking away of goods.

The court heard Nandha shopping at Coles when he put a packet of peanuts in his pocket and left without paying for them.

Nandha told police outside the shopping centre he forgot he had them.

Magistrate Trevor Morgan placed Nandha on a $300 good behaviour bond for six months.

“That’s a very expensive packet of peanuts,” Mr Nandha said.
