A Coles bakery item has copped a blasting on social media after a customer posted a photo showing it did not live up to their expectations on a key ingredient.
The social media post about a pack of Coles Morayfield bacon and cheese rolls sparked more than 100 comments after a photo of the product appeared to show almost no actual bacon pieces.
One person went so far as to suggest there were almost as many rolls as there were bits of cured pork flesh.
Most of the 179-plus comments saw the light side of the issue, with plenty of porky puns.
But some others were angry, saying that at a time of record profits and cost of living pressures the retailer could afford to lift its game.
Coles was approached for comment.
The reddit post, which challenged followers to count how many bacon bits they could spot in the image, also prompted others to complain about the taste of the product.
“I’ll be honest, this is the saddest cheese and bacon roll I’ve seen in a while. If you want one with more than three bacon pieces, you may need to get there early,” AI_RPI_SPY posted.
A redditer calling themselves mini—care commented: “This is a robbery. Cheese and bacon rolls are my favourite. Add more bacon ya scoundrels.”
Another redditer posted: “Less good stuff, but they don’t mind charging for them. They’ve increased the price by $1.50 over the past five weeks.’’
