Brisbane’s The Block contestants Jimmy and Tam were nearly locked out of the state due to the second border closure, making it home with only a day to spare. READ THEIR STORY.

Jimmy and Tam Wilkins only made it back to Brisbane from shooting The Block by one day.
They spent two weeks in isolation in their homes before returning to work. Jimmy as a plumber and Tam pulling beers at the Ferny Grove Bowls Club.

The couple, who live in Arana Hills, are locals to the core. Tam grew up in the area where she went to primary and high school.
Jimmy grew up in Kilcoy, but moved to Brisbane when he was 13 and went to Mitchelton State High School.
Tam said people have been stopping her at the shops and constantly at the bowls club.
“It’s all any one wants to talk about. And I am so OK with that,” Tam said.
“It’s not everyone who gets to be on a TV show. And it’s so great to be able to share this with people who are watching it now.
“We only know what happened in our own house. There is so much that happened we just had no idea about.”
The coronavirus pandemic nearly cost them getting home after the show.
At the end of filming they only made it back to Queensland the day before the borders closed and they would have been forced to quarantine in a hotel for two weeks.
Jimmy said filming had to shut down for six weeks in April due to the coronavirus pandemic. And they were told filming may not start back up again.
When they returned there was a COVID-19 clinic set up in a garage where a nurse would monitor people for symptoms.
