A “remarkably gullible” young man sold stolen high-end power tools to pawnbrokers nine times but got nothing in return.
Hayden Patrick Walsh pleaded guilty at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court to nine charges of receiving tainted goods and nine charges of fraud.
Between August 2019 and April 2020, the 18-year-old took Milwaukee and EGO brand power tools to pawn brokers across northern Brisbane.

He had been given the tools by friends who had been given them by people who had stolen them.
He told the stores he was the legal owner of the tools and pawned them for cash.
He gave all of the money back to his friends and made nothing from the fraud.
Magistrate Trevor Morgan told Walsh without people like him willing to “fence” stolen goods it would be harder for thieves to operate.
Mr Morgan said the fact Walsh made nothing from the transactions made him “remarkably gullible”.
“I can understand taking the tools to the pawnbrokers for friends once or twice. Maybe even three times. But on the ninth time?” he said.
Walsh was placed on a $2000 good behaviour bond for two years. No conviction was recorded.
