Elite Martial Arts Redcliffe (EMAR) is hosting Thai/Kickboxing In Search of Talent 3 at the North Lakes Sports Club in what was promised to be a talent-rich affair.
Organisers will donate $5 from each ticket sold to the bushfire appeal and encouraged attendees to donate a further $5 if they can.
EMAR owner Jeffery Bullock aimed to raise $3000 on the day, which will serve as a talent search for a national team to compete at the ISKA World Championships in Florida, USA in June.
“I think it has been such a disaster and so devastating to communities,” Bullock said of the bushfires.
“So I don’t think any right-minded person would not want to donate.
“I may sound old-fashioned but it is the Christian thing to do.”
The day will see a host of national title fights and culminate with a three-round ISKA K1 Pro title 70kg bout between Cruz Briggs and Corey Chapel.
“These two are very credible athletes,” Bullock said.
“We are certainly campaigning for the top kickboxers in Australia.
“Cruz Briggs recently competed in K1 in Japan and the winner from this fight may be chosen to partake in K1.”
The organiser was thrilled with the event’s progress.
“It is coming together great; we’ve got some fantastic bouts coming on,” Bullock said.
“We will have at least five amateur Australian title fights with teams coming from as far as Cairns and Sydney.
“And it is a fantastic venue and so well resourced.”

A raffle with prizes including fight gear and gym memberships will be drawn on the day.
Bullock said the fight game had strong support in the Moreton Bay region with a lot of clubs being founded.
The Thai/Kickboxing In Search of Talent 3 bushfire appeal kicks off at 10am on February 23 at the North Lakes Sports Club.
