Distinctive tattoo key to identifying man after sexual assault at North Lakes

Detectives have again appealed for the public’s help to track down a man after a young woman was sexually assaulted north of Brisbane.

Police are hoping someone will recognise a distinctive tattoo as they continue the search for a man after an horrific sexual assault.

Just before 6pm on Saturday, August 7, a woman was in Aurora Park at North Lakes when a man approached her from behind.

Detective Senior Constable Kim Rasker said the 25-year-old woman was out for her evening jog and walk when she was attacked.

“She was out for her evening walk and jog when she’s been dragged from the footpath into the toilet block where she was sexually assaulted,” she said.

“She was knocked unconscious as a result of this and the male person has fled the scene.

“She’s understandably shaken from the ordeal however she is being supported by her family and her friends during this time.”

The horrific details came after police released another image they believed could help with their investigations.

The man has a distinctive tattoo on his upper left arm of a black outline of an American Eagle.

Officers have conducted extensive inquiries of residences surrounding the park, however, they are asking anyone in the area who has not yet spoken to police, to come forward.

Anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage that could identify the man is also encouraged to speak to detectives.

Police will be at Aurora Park on Thursday and Friday, between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, to speak to anyone who may have information that could help identify the man.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

The man is described as caucasian in appearance, around 170cm tall and of a thin build.

He is believed to be in his late teens to early 20s, has short blonde hair, clean shaven and was wearing spacer-style earrings.

If you have information for police, contact Policelink 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
