Missing man: Mango Hill father Phillip Walsh found dead

Police on the Sunshine Coast have located a body believed to be that of Phillip Walsh, a Moreton Bay region man missing since Monday morning, triggering an outpouring of sadness and support for his family.

Police have located a body believed to be that of Phillip Walsh, a Moreton Bay region father missing since Monday morning.

The 33-year-old, of Mango Hill, was last seen around 7am at an address on Marine Parade in Redcliffe.

His 2010 black Nissan Navara was later located at the Mount Beerwah car park, Mount Beerwah Rd, in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Police, with the assistance of State Emergency Services personnel, conducted an extensive land and air search of the Mount Beerwah area on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A spokesman from the Queensland Police Service confirmed that Mr Walsh’s death was not being considered suspicious and that a report was being prepared for the coroner.

A family member took to social media to thank the community for their support.

Peter Wade wrote: “Thank you from everybody concerned.”

“Phillip has been found and the police are recovering his body from difficult terrain.

“Your support these 24 hours has been invaluable.”

There has been an outpouring of support for Mr Walsh’s family.

One woman wrote: “I’m so sorry, this is so devastating. Phil was a beautiful person and will be missed by so many.”

Cassie Hicks wrote: “So sorry for your loss … I grew up with Phil and (he) was a fantastic guy.”

“My heart is just breaking for all of you. Sending so many prayers to all,” another friend wrote.

Those who joined in the search efforts on Wednesday also left shattered by the news.

“I’m so sorry, I met you this morning and I was really hoping for a better outcome. My thoughts are with you and the family,” Tilly Marie wrote.

Police also thanked the public for its interest and assistance throughout the search.
