A NEW pet groomer is in town and they specialise in ferocious felines.

Bow Wow Meow Pet Grooming, formerly in Narangba, has been putting the finishing touches on North Lakes’ and surrounds’ cats and K-9s now for about a month.

Situated at 59 Endeavour Boulevard, conveniently next to BLVD Bar and Cafe, the groomer tends to the pet world’s more tricky customers, au naturel.

“Cats are very difficult to do and a lot of people take them to vets to anaesthetise them,” owner and former veterinary nurse Janice Joyce said.

“A lot of other groomers will use tranquillisers but we don’t sedate any animal.

“With all our experience we’ve handled so many animals under so many circumstances, we don’t need to do that.

“There’s not many cats we can’t do.”

A dyed-in-the-wool animal lover with an extensive history in their care, Ms Joyce said cats are not to be taken lightly.

“They’ve got a mind of their own and don’t want to please you like a dog does,” she said.

“And they can do so much damage; I’ve gotten lots of scars over the years.

“If you get bitten by a cat you can get cellulitis and you can end up in hospital for months.

“And that is why their grooming costs so much, because it is danger pay!”

Having owned boarding kennels, catteries and other grooming salons, Ms Joyce also used to breed German Shepherds and even Afghans.

Ms Joyce said the business was coming along nicely and was particularly taken with her new location.

“I love being in North Lakes, especially next to the cafe,” she said.

“It is a busy spot and I can hear the music all day which is fantastic.

“And they are pet-friendly as well so on the weekends particularly there are lots of dogs.

“And the cafe’s people are lovely.”

Bow Wow Meow Pet Grooming is open Tuesday to Saturday from 7am to around 3pm.
