An ex-policeman whose life spiralled downhill after a horrific accident left him with a brain injury and partial blindness has been sentenced on drugs charges.

Robert John Williams, 51, appeared in Pine Rivers Magistrates court on February 16 where he pleaded guilty to multiple offences including possession of dangerous drugs.

Prosecutor Kerri Spicer said Mr Williams had six pages of previous criminal history and had been found possessing a dangerous drug, as well as drug related utensils including a pipe.

Police found the drugs when they attended his address on another matter.

Ms Spicer told the court Williams was on a suspended sentence for previous drug related matters when he was charged with possession of a dangerous drug in December last year.

Williams‘ lawyer, Andrew Ferrett, said his client had worked in the New South Wales police force for 17 years before a 2004 car accident ended his career.

Mr Ferrett said the accident left Williams with a brain injury and partial blindness.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy extended Williams‘ suspended prison sentence by one month and fined him $800.
