Appearing via video link at Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Friday, Jordan Jarrod Harrison, 21, pleaded guilty to 18 offences which included stealing a vehicle and multiple counts of unlawful use of a vehicle, stealing and driving without a licence.
The court heard Harrison’s offending occurred in Kallangur, Newport, Bracken Ridge, Narangba, Kippa-Ring and Clontarf with the defendant driving multiple stolen vehicles fitted with stolen registration plates.
Harrison was also observed on CCTV on several occasions doing fuel drive-offs.
Harrison’s “most serious” offending involved unlawful use of a vehicle.
Police prosecutor Senior Constable Chelsey Ham said Harrison crashed into bollards on May 3 while driving a stolen Holden after being chased by a person whose motorbike helmet he stole.
While attempting to break into a vehicle on May 19 Harrison’s face was “clearly visible” on CCTV despite wearing the stolen motorcycle helmet.
On May 11 police called off a pursuit after Harrison drove “at speed” after being observed in Kippa-Ring.
On May 12 Harrison escaped on foot after crashing into a station wagon in Newport.
The defendant’s fingerprint was found in a Nissan Navara utility stolen with a box trailer with $30,000 of landscaping equipment on May 14. The vehicle with trailer and tools was later recovered.
On May 15 Harrison was observed on CCTV driving a stolen Toyota HiLux utility fitted with a box trailer.
The vehicle and trailer was later recovered but had been damaged with $7000 worth of tools stolen.
He was arrested at a Narangba house on May 22, but not before hitting a police officer with his vehicle while attempting to escape. He also drove into and damaged a police vehicle.
Harrison was found with a “cut-down” needle and syringe secreted between his buttocks during a search after the arrest.
Harrison’s defence solicitor Jim Coburn said his client had an “unremarkable” upbringing but had been “bedevilled” by the drug ice at 16, which was the main influence in his offending.
Mr Coburn also stated Harrison had nine previous unlawful use of a vehicle offences.
Magistrate Trevor Morgan said Harrison had a history of 40 dishonesty offences.
