NORTH Lakes’ caffeine fiends have spoken and a clear winner has emerged for the area’s best coffee shop.

Latitude Coffee at 2/28 Flinders Parade garnered the most votes from our poll over the weekend.

The lads at Latitude, who last year won a string of awards at the Golden Bean Coffee Roaster Competition, were smitten with their success.

“It is very humbling and it validates what we’re trying to do,” co-owner Henry Miller said.

“Base Camp Cafe has only been open for nine months and for it to do well so quickly is great.”

With 80 per cent of the business dedicated to coffee roasting and distribution Base Camp Cafe is the business’ “sexy” show piece and lets customers observe the warehouse in action, said Mr Miller.

The coffee distributor said staying on top of the coffee scene in North Lakes was tough.

“You are spoiled for choice in North Lakes,” Mr Miller said.

“It may not be the biggest suburb but it is definitely a competitive market.

“Places like Archer and Told You So use high quality beans and they all do a very good job in their own right.

“Everyone pushes one another here and you can’t have a bad day or a bad review because there is so much choice.

“If you are anywhere on the north side it is definitely worth coming to North Lakes for the day if you are obsessed with coffee, trying out three or four places because you will be pleasantly surprised.”
