YOU’LL need to bring your appetite to this year’s Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival, which promises to be a feast for the senses.
Foodies will be in their element at the event on September 7 and 8, which is a celebration of local producers, chefs, cuisine and brews.
There’s a big program of free events across the weekend, with unique dining experiences, cooking demonstrations, live entertainment, beach teepees, celebrity chefs, hands-on workshops, food trucks, pop-up bars, and market stalls.
Entry is free to the festival precinct, which winds its way down Redcliffe Parade.
Running alongside the festival precinct, will be many foreshore restaurants and operators offering special menus and hosting ticketed events and workshops.
In the free festival precinct, you’ll be able to hear from chefs and producers, and sample the very best the Moreton Bay Region has to offer.
On Saturday night, enjoy some dinner, entertainment and a massive fireworks display.
Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism chairman Shane Newcombe says the festival is a showcase of the region’s finest fresh produce and artisanal products curated by some of our top chefs, brewers and winemakers against the backdrop of stunning Moreton Bay
“Last year’s event proved a recipe for success and we’re including the same secret ingredient in 2019 — free entry to the festival precinct all weekend long,” Mr Newcombe says.
“There’ll be an abundance of workshops and cooking classes for those who want to get hands-on, or if you’d prefer to sit back and be indulged then don’t miss the hugely popular Bee Gees Way dinner.
“The real star of the festival will be the local produce. I recommend stocking up on homegrown and homemade treats from the Local Tastes Pavilion, and enjoying locally caught seafood at the Seafood & Wine Deck.”
Moreton Bay Region Mayor Allan Sutherland says the success of the inaugural event caught the attention of some culinary superstars who will be part of this year’s festival.
“I’m thrilled that Matt Sinclair and Alastair McLeod will be sharing some of their favourite recipes on the USC Seafood Cooking Stage,” Cr Sutherland says.
“Events are already big business in our region and great for the local economy, evidenced by the fact that we’re able to expand on last year’s impressive social calendar.”
Moreton Bay Food + Wine Festival is delivered by MBRIT in partnership with Moreton Bay Regional Council and is supported by major partner Tourism and Events Queensland and major sponsors Kindred, as well as Sesame Lane, Mon Komo Hotel, USC, The Courier-Mail and Channel 9.
