Everyone’s favourite fun run, the Jetty 2 Jetty (J2J) is back in 2018 and is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

With a picturesque course backdrop, J2J will wind its way from Woody Point along the Redcliffe Foreshore to Scarborough and back, on Sunday, July 22, from 6-11am.

Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism (MBRIT) chief executive Shane Newcombe is encouraging everyone to give the J2J a go, promising a race to suit everybody, regardless of fitness level or age.

“Whether you train all year round or have set yourself a new fitness goal for 2018, it’s time to dust off the running shoes because J2J offers a race for everyone,” he says.

There are four race categories to choose from including the Gleeson Klein Stegeman Lawyers Half Marathon (21km), BallyCara 10km, Dolphins Health Precinct 5km and the Quest Community News 3km.

This year, the Kindred Hydration Heroes will be at water stations handing out green sports drinks, water, high-fives, fist pumps and loads of enthusiasm.

Racers will be able to stretch and warm down in the Rebel Warm Down Zone, before strolling through the Peninsula Private Hospital Healthy Living Expo, where businesses and brands will be offering their services and giving away stacks of freebies and samples.

Mayor Allan Sutherland says J2J is big business for the region.

“Runners from right around the globe converge on Moreton Bay for this event because it’s internationally renowned — not just for the sensationally scenic views, but also for great winter running conditions and the event’s slick operation,” he said.

This year, J2J is supporting the charity headspace Redcliffe.

The Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run is brought to you by MBRIT and Moreton Bay Road Runners, and supported by Moreton Bay Regional Council, Peninsula Private Hospital, Kindred, BallyCara, Gleeson Klein Stegeman Lawyers, Quest Community News, Rebel North Lakes and Dolphins Health Precinct.
