IF YOU thought last year’s Bonfire Night went off with a bang, this year’s event at Sandstone Point Hotel is tipped to be the biggest yet.
There’ll be a six metre-high bonfire, pyrotechnics, fireworks, flame shows, fire twirlers, entertainment and food trucks with fare to warm you on the inside.
Marketing manager Toni Forrest says the venue has upped the ante for the family friendly event this year, which is on July 6 from 2-9.30pm.
“It’s even more action-packed. Sandstone Point Hotel is pulling out all the stops with immersive flame shows and a few big surprises to be unveiled on the night,” Toni says.
The bonfire will be lit at last light, there will be flame shows every half-hour from 6-8pm, and two combat fire performances during the night. Fireworks will light the sky at 8.30pm, in a show tipped to be much more than a typical fireworks display.
About 7000 people attended last year’s Bonfire Night, and similar crowds are expected this time around.
“It’s a nice family event and one lucky person will get to push the plunger (to signal the start of the fireworks),” Toni says.
Bring a picnic blanket and tuck into something from one of the food trucks. Options will include pizza, hotdogs, tacos, burgers and more, plus a delicious selection of desserts. There will also be a burger tent, calamari tent and rotisserie.
