BREAKFAST
Annie Lane, 5/1 Toorbul St, Bongaree
This newcomer to the cafe scene has a similar philosophy to its sister cafe, Gather and Feast, at Caboolture — with a decadent twist.
“There’s ridiculous, over-the-top shakes, churros banana splits and waffles. It’s Willy Wonka over the top,” owner Candice Kiss says.
“We just find the clientele, especially the school holiday crowd, are looking for something to treat themselves.”
The cafe opened in April, offering a large selection of gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and even Keto options. But ultimately, there’s something to suit everyone.
The most popular dish on the breakfast menu is savoury mince, which Candice says is jazzed up with eggs Benedict.
“It’s a mixture of what they know, something they can relate to that’s not too adventurous, but something completely different to what they would have had at Grandma’s house,” she says.
The cafe is named after her grandmother, Annie, who’s suffering from dementia and is at her best when she’s travelling down memory lane. Annie Lane is open weekdays (closed Tuesday) 7.30am-2.30pm; weekends 7.30am-2pm. Bookings are recommended on Sundays.

LUNCH
Ocean View Estates Winery and Restaurant,
2557 Mount Mee Rd, Ocean View

Options include sashimi, pork belly, soft shell crab, mushroom dumplings, even a slow-cooked brisket steam bun.
But if you want your visit to be more about food, enjoy a meal from the a la carte menu. There’s seafood, beef, even seaweed Dutch cream gnocchi and share plates for two. There’s little sausage rolls, pies and savoury tarts, danishes, croissants, raw and vegan options, friands, and the popular chocolate sour dough brownies.
