Every town has many faces – locals with insider tips about their hometown and their favourite places to play, shop, sleep and eat. It’s where they go on the weekends.

To celebrate the launch of the 2020 Moreton Bay Region Holiday Guide, we chatted with some passionate locals and asked them to share with us, why they love calling the Moreton Bay Region home. Here’s how to enjoy Moreton Bay – Rachel Cavanagh’s way.

RACHEL’S TOP 6 PICKS

Favourite brunch: Stellarossa Pumicestone

“This definitely has to be my go-to brunch spot. It’s always tough to try and decide what I’m going to eat. If I’m feeling like something sweet, they make the best pancake stack – topped with Nutella, strawberries and ice-cream. But, if I’m in the mood for something more savoury, their mushroom, halloumi and pesto toast never goes astray.”

Go-to spot for a relaxing afternoon: Youngs Crossing Park

“When I find myself in need of a study break, I head towards nature to recharge my batteries. My favourite spot is Youngs Crossing Park, where I like to go swimming, have a go on the rope swing or just enjoy the quiet tranquillity of nature.”

Favourite study spot: North Lakes Library

“My favourite place to study would be the North Lakes Library. With heaps of study nooks and quiet spaces, I know I’ll always get my assignments done without being interrupted.”

Best Instagrammable backdrop: Dahmongah Park Lookout, Mount Mee

“I love to snap a good picture at Dahmongah Park lookout because it’s so beautiful and green – and it’s the perfect spot to catch a good sunrise.”

Favourite cultural experience: Old Petrie Town

“I love walking through Old Petrie Town, it’s like jumping back in time. With tie-dyeing, candle making and old-school cars, you feel like you’re living in the past – even if it’s just for a few hours.”

Night on the Town: Sandstone Point Hotel

“For a night out with friends, the first stop is Sandstone Point Hotel. There’s always something going on, and with the ocean right by its side, some great artists and events – it’s impossible not to have a great time.”
