A CULTURAL revolution is under way in the Moreton Bay Region and the council wants residents to lead the charge.
Mayor Allan Sutherland says that in the face of unprecedented growth, it is essential to have a strategy to preserve the region’s rich history and find innovative ways to create a new sense vibrancy into the future.
“We want to hear your ideas on how we can make the events you love even better, what new attractions and activities you’d like to see, and how we can better support creative professionals to grow our arts sector,” he says.
“Our $26.5 million investment in the Caboolture Hub made Caboolture Regional Art Gallery one of only three galleries in the country to showcase the works of Australian art royalty Brett Whiteley. Experiences like this create lasting memories, which is why we are committed to delivering cultural opportunities that will make our region a dynamic place to live for generations to come.”
Lifestyle and Amenity spokeswoman Denise Sims says the success of the cultural strategy relies on advice from residents.
“It never ceases to amaze me the amount of creative talent we have in the region, and council looks forward to providing more professional development opportunities over the next four years,” she says. “It’s the reason why in the past financial year we saw more than 150,000 people visit council galleries, museums and the Redcliffe Cultural Centre. So we want to learn what motivates you to go to our museums or what cultural programs or activities you like so we can continue to deliver these services.”
Everyone who provides feedback will go in the draw to win a BBQ Boat Hire experience at Bribie Island.
