A school north of Brisbane has been extensively damaged by vandalism and graffiti as the angry community calls for upgrades to the school’s security and fencing.

Police confirmed they were investigating the attacks at Woodford State School last month.

“Between Monday, June 8 and Thursday, June 27 several rooms and buildings were damaged by unknown people,” a QPS spokesperson said.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police. Investigations are continuing.”

Principal Ronnie Hill released a statement on the school’s Facebook page on July 9.

“It is with great sadness and frustration that I share with our community (news of) the vandalising of our school last weekend,” Mr Hill wrote.

“Whilst it will impact our secondary hospitality program, students will complete many aspects of their theory work and return to cooking within a couple of weeks.

“I would like to pass on a very big thank you to local and forensic police for their quick response yesterday.

“Also, thank you to Mr Brad Swinbanks for carrying out the industrial cleaning in our early years area.

“I am so proud of our students and staff as they have demonstrated amazing resilience dealing with the disruption and impact on our school.

“I urge you to please contact the Woodford Police if you have any information that may be helpful.”

One resident posted that the incidents were disappointing and “happening over and over again’’.

Glass House MP Andrew Powell posted: “Have discussed this with the school and we’re working on getting security upgrades.

“I’m appalled by this level of vandalism.”

Many other comments from locals called for upgrades to the school’s fencing and overall security.

The Department of Education has been contacted for comment.
