The first images of a new $35 million Dakabin Hotel have been released this morning by Queensland’s fastest-growing private hospitality company, the Comiskey Group.
The landmark project, which would even have its indoor basketball court, was planned for a 3.75ha site on the corner of Alma and Old Gympie roads.
It would be ready for patrons by mid-to-late 2024, along with a $15m on-site shopping precinct.
Dakabin Hotel itself will have a restaurant with both indoor and outdoor dining, a sports bar with TAB, a gaming room, a large children’s room with an indoor basketball court and a few unexpected surprises yet to be revealed.
Its striking architectural design was predicted to become a local talking point.
The shopping centre would include tenants such as Guzman Y Gomez, KFC, Zarraffa’s and a NightOwl service station.
Director Rob Comiskey said his family company had fielded a large number of leasing inquiries.
He confirmed some major brands would be opening soon.
“Dakabin is a massive growth area, not to mention its close proximity to the thriving North Lakes community — it really is a great opportunity for leasing,” Mr Comiskey said.
“Our Dakabin development is in a high-profile location on the main road, offering great visibility right opposite Woolworths.
“We do have a few tenancies left and we are looking for businesses that we believe will be well suited to the area.
“If you think that’s you then by all means get in touch.”
David Comiskey, another of the company’s directors, said the hotel would begin to take shape in coming months, with structural work due to start in days.
“The earthworks are nearing completion and we will commence the concrete footings very soon,” he said.
“In just a few months, Dakabin Hotel will start to take shape and the progress should be exciting to watch.
“We had been working on the design of the development for over a year.
“We put a lot of effort into it and so we were very eager to release the artist impressions when they were complete.
“It’s great to finally be able to show the community what we have planned.
“We hope you can see by the quality of the build that we have made every effort to deliver a world-class venue to Dakabin for all to enjoy.”
