Two injured, woman dead in serious head-on crash west of Brisbane

A Wamuran woman has died and a child is fighting for their life after a horror head-on crash that closed the D’Aguilar Hwy northwest of Brisbane for almost six hours.

A Wamuran woman has died and an eight-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a serious head-on crash closed the D’Aguilar Hwy northwest of Brisbane Monday morning.

A man is also in a serious but stable condition and was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital following the two-car crash at 7.13am.

The highway was closed at the Williams Bridge overpass in the Caboolture area and traffic diverted to Williams Rd. It reopened about 1pm.

Police said a Toyota utility was travelling westbound when the car and a Mazda hatchback collided at Moodlu, north of Caboolture.

A 25-year-old man who was driving the utility is in a stable condition in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A girl, 8, suffered head, pelvis and serious leg injuries and was rushed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The woman, 37, from Wamuran, died at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who has dashcam or other vision to contact them.
