A popular waterfront hotel, north of Brisbane, will reopen next week after its massive $3 million makeover.

The Mon Komo Hotel, at Redcliffe, was purchased by Lewis Land Group in November 2019.

The group also operate The Belvedere Hotel at Woody Point.

In November 2020 Lewis Land Group announced it would be closing the hotel to that major upgrades could take place.

Now five months later the hotel is ready to once again open its doors to patrons at 10am on Tuesday.

The hotel has a very new look, new kitchen, new menu and 200 new staff.

One of the major changes was closing the nightclub and transforming it into a public bar and “gold class” gaming lounge.

Lewis Land Group’s Queensland Regional Manager Chris Allison said snap COVID-19 lockdowns and weather had delayed the works and reopening.

“It has a new look, there have been a lot of cosmetic changes,” Mr Allison said.

Tradesmen are working hard to have the outdoor terrace ready for Tuesday’s reopening.

Mr Allison said this area had been one of the main focuses of the revamp.

“We lifted the terrace up and lowered the garden beds to get the best view over the water,” he said.

“We have installed purpose built seating, heating and a circular garden area perfect for groups.”

The nightclub has been closed and refitted as a public bar and gaming lounge – complete with socially distance gaming machines.

Mr Allison said a new charcoal rotisserie had been installed in the new look kitchen.

He said The Komo would have a whole new menu including tacos and wraps.

A mural, painted by Brisbane artist Textr Studio, featuring Koko the Pelican, is painted on a wall near the lounge area.

Mr Allison said it would be the perfect backdrop for Instagram and family photos.

Staff from the previous hotel were offered jobs at The Belvedere during the shut down.

Mr Allison said a post-COVID-19 bounce meant the group had recently hired 200 staff to work across both venues.

The Komo, at 99 Marine Rd, Redcliffe, will be open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
