Taeshara Lee Bird: Chermside mother faces court after assaulting police at Eatons Hill Hotel

A Brisbane mother has faced court after assaulting an officer after a night on the drink at the Eatons Hill Hotel.

A Chermside mother labelled police officers “f**king dogs and paedophiles” as she struggled during a violent outburst at a popular family tavern.

Taeshara Lee Bird, 27, faced two charges when she appeared in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of commit public nuisance within licenced premises or in the vicinity of licensed premises and a second charge of serious assault police officer whilst adversely affected in public place.

The court heard police were called to the Eatons Hill Hotel at Brendale just before 1.00am on May 30 this year after Bird was “trying to fight other patrons”.

Bird was detained by three security guards when police arrived at the venue.

The court was told Bird violently kicked backwards striking the police officer in the lower left leg causing immediate pain.

“The defendant was warned not to further assault police however reacted by screaming incoherently at police and shaking her head,” the police prosecutor said.

“The defendant was then escorted out of the premises by police where she continued to call police a bunch of f**king dogs and paedophiles while resisting to walk towards the police vehicle.”

The court heard officers were forced to call the Queensland Ambulance Service after Bird continued to violently struggle on route to the watch house.

Her lawyer told Magistrate Annette Hennessy that the mother of two had been subjected to several traumatic issues.

“She went out and became overly intoxicated and she’s very remorseful for her behaviour,” Bird’s lawyer said.

Magistrate Hennessy said she took into account the apprentice mechanic’s early plea of guilty and the circumstances surrounding the offence.

“Your actions against the police were serious,” Magistrate Hennessy said.

“I do take into account that there was traumatic issues underlying this but certainly if your history turns around to the way it was previously then you’re going to have a lot of problems.

“Try and make sure this is a one-off.”

Bird assured the Magistrate it wouldn’t happen again.

She was fined $1000 with a conviction recorded.
