A developer hopes to build more than 50 “high end townhomes” and a childcare centre in a growing lakeside estate north of Brisbane.
Stockland lodged several development applications with Moreton Bay Regional Council on May 10, seeking permission to build 52 high end townhomes and a childcare centre in its Newport estate, near Redcliffe, north of Brisbane.

The developer recently opened its $90 million public lake which can be used for recreational activities, boats and a new children’s playground.
A $69 million vertical retirement complex is also under construction at the estate.
Stockland hopes to build the 91 place child care centre at Lakeview Promenade.
Regional Manager for Stockland Communities Pauline Barton said the facility would be built by Stockland but run by an external early learning centre operator.
“Subject to council approval the centre will feature spacious learning hubs, interactive technology, highly qualified staff and an in-house chef making fresh nutritious meals,” she said.
“The delivery of our centre is part of our strategy to deliver key amenity and infrastructure close to home.”
Stockland is expected to launch the first stage of completed terrace homes later this year.
It has lodged an application to subdivide a lot at Lakeview Promenade to allow 52 townhomes to be built.
Ms Barton said some of the townhomes would be located along the waterfront.
“Subject to council approval these townhomes combined with our terraces, house and land packages and retirement living village will allow Newport to cater to a variety of lifestyle needs across the community,” she said.
Once Stockland’s vision for the estate is complete the community will be home to an estimated 5000 residents.
Moreton Bay Regional Council is yet to make a decision on the applications.
