Once complete the six storey retirement village will feature 125 apartments (a mix of two and three bedrooms), linked by a communal outdoor recreation space with a swimming pool.

It is located near the future town centre and marina and 22-hectare lake.

The complex is expected to be completed between August and October next year.

Work has started on filling the lake, which is due to open on December 12.

Stockland Regional Development Manager Pauline Barton said it was great to see the vision for the complex coming together.

“Our goal was to create a highly connected and accessible community, that enhances liveability and encourages residents to be social, active and enjoy a healthy bayside lifestyle,” she said.

“Today’s retirees expect to live in beautiful places, enjoy a great lifestyle and demand a high level of services. In designing Newport Retirement Living we wanted to show that people can upsize their quality of life when they chose to downsize their homes.”

Retirees will have access to a wellness hub with a gym, billiards room, wi-fi enabled library and an alfresco barbecue area featuring a living community table to grow herbs and use when cooking.

“We’re rethinking the traditional retirement living model, providing more options for over 55’s to live in well-designed, accessible and low maintenance communities, with great access to health and lifestyle facilities and more options to age-in-place,” Ms Barton said.

“Most importantly, we want to provide residents with the opportunity to remain in the communities they know and love, close to families, friends and local services.”

Newport Retirement Living’s apartments will be available from $449,000. Exit fees and other charges are payable.

For more information visit the Newport Sales and Information Centre on the corner of Griffith Road and Boardman Road, Newport.

Newport Retirement Living’s brand new display unit will be open for viewing from December 5.
