Sarah Climo, Adam Bird of Narangba guilty of meth dealing

A Moreton Bay couple with longstanding drug issues have been sentenced for supplying ice on multiple occasions.

A Moreton Bay couple have relapsed into their meth-fuelled ways, supplying the drug on multiple occasions to a target of a police investigation.

Narangba couple Adam James Bird, 33, and hairdresser Sarah Anne Climo, 37, each pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court on Wednesday to offences of supplying a Schedule 1 dangerous drug.

Climo supplied the drug on four occasions, while Bird assisted her twice by acting as courier.

The drug supplies occurred on dates between September 16 and October 24 last year.

They came to police attention due to analysis of a seized mobile phone belonging to a target of Operation Sierra Savanna.

The messages indicated Climo had supplied two amounts of 3.5g and two amounts of 0.5g to the woman whose phone was seized.

Furthermore, they indicated Climo was actively “promoting” her meth to the target of the police investigation.

Bird was involved on two occasions, once when Climo was asleep, by securing the pair’s own supply to onsell, or by delivering the drug to the target.

The pair were arrested and charged on February 5 this year, after police had been briefly unable to locate them due to the fact they had moved.

The court heard both had relevant criminal histories indicating longstanding issues with methamphetamine abuse.

Bird was in the more parlous position of the pair, due to the fact he was sentenced in the Brisbane Supreme Court on May 16, 2019, for possession of a commercial quantity of methamphetamine.

He still had time owing on that sentence.

Judge John Allen QC told Bird the only reason he was dealt with so leniently in 2019 was because of his “professed efforts” in ridding himself of his addiction.

“If you relapse (again) you can expect to be dealt with severely,” he told the pair.

Judge Allen said it was with some hesitation that he would grant the pair another opportunity to rehabilitate themselves in the community, after the court heard they had separated themselves from their previous drug associates.

Climo was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment, wholly suspended for an operational period of two years, while Bird received nine months, wholly suspended for an operational period of 18 months.
