The family of a man who was killed in a tragic accident at the weekend has received a groundswell of support through a fundraising campaign.
Ryan Cowan, 24, who was better known as “Sunny” has been remembered as “human sunshine” after an accident claimed his life at Elimbah.
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle motorcycle incident on Saturday morning.
It’s understood the Arana Hills man was travelling along Simpson Rd in Elimbah at around 11.30am when his motorcycle left the road and crashed into a tree.
Paramedics responded to the incident but Mr Cowan died at the scene.
A man who claimed to be at the crash said “heaps” of Mr Cowan’s family and friends were present at the crash.
“His brother was with him and others tried to help,” he wrote.
Friend Thani Ruangsri has since created a fundraising campaign to assist Mr Cowan’s family.
“We lost an extremely special friend/family member Ryan “Sunny” Cowan in an extremely sad and freak accident,” he wrote.
“This GoFundMe has been started to help Ryan’s family during this extremely difficult time.
“As some of you are aware funerals and related things can be extremely expensive and stressful to have to deal with and organise in this difficult time.”
Mr Ruangsri went on to say Ryan was only 24 when this tragic accident happened he had his whole life still in front of him.
“If you didn’t know Ryan his nickname says it all, “Sunny”,” he said.
“He had a smile that could light up the room instantly his laugh and smile could make even the worst days that little bit better.
“If you can spare a few (dollars) to donate that would be amazing and extremely appreciated.
“Every little bit helps. Please if you can dig deep and help us give Sunnythesend off he deserves.”
So far 40 donors have contributed $6035 to the campaign
Friend Brittany Clarke wrote: “Please help us by donating to be able to send it big for our boy Sun.”
“We want to celebrate his life the only way he knew how, BIG!
“We won’t disappoint you my friend, go hard or go home!
“You will forever be loved by so many. We love you, thanks for being such a pure friend to us all, you are definitely one in a million.”
Family member Sherene Cowan has revealed they would be gathering to send “Sunny off properly”.
Friends and family are invited to “come to his resting place” on Saturday September, 11 at the Donnybrook pine forestry, near Simpson Rd at 2.00pm.
