Redcliffe man back behind bars after pleading guilty to 81 charges
A 30-year-old man who racked up 81 offences in a six-month period was sentenced today. But the Magistrate said even a lengthy stint in jail was unlikely to curb this criminal’s “deplorable’ behaviour. See the full list of charges.

A 30-year-old Redcliffe man with an extensive criminal history has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to more than 80 charges.
In a six-month period last year Ricci Dean Barker racked up 81 charges – ranging from break and enter, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs and drug driving.
The court heard how he stole $1633.98 worth of groceries from a supermarket, stole items, including a vacuum and a dog bed from other stores, broke into an underground carpark and on multiple occasions broke into a car yard and stole registration plates.

Barker appeared via video link in Redcliffe Magistrates Court today for sentencing. It followed his appearance on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to all charges.
Magistrate Bucknall said Barker had a long criminal history, which included several stints in jail.
“On the 27th of October 2010 he was sentenced in the Brisbane District Court to a period of three years for entering a dwelling and two years for an assault occasioning bodily harm and 12 months for stealing,” he said.
“He was further convicted on September 22, 2011 for 18 months for robbery and the history has gone on largely unabated since then.”
Magistrate Bucknall said Barker had previously been granted a community based order, instead of a term of imprisonment.
“All of those community based orders, I think there are three of them, have been breached,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
“It is deplorable behaviour and it is ongoing criminal behaviour where it seems the defendant thinks that he is bullet proof and can simply do what he likes.”
Magistrate Bucknall sentenced Barker to two months in jail.
He fixed a parole date for June 6 – taking into account the 196 days Barker had already spent behind bars.
Magistrate Bucknall said it most likely Barker would end up serving the full sentence as he seemed “unable to stop himself” from reoffending.
“If his form to date is any indication then he is likely to be returned to prison to serve out the full sentence but that is in his hands,” Magistrate Bucknall said.
