A court north of Brisbane has heard how a hospital orderly from Narangba joined a group of others and assaulted a woman at her Newport home, as they demanded to see her son.

Alana Candice Guttridge, 21, appeared in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on May 17, charged with trespass, common assault, possession of a mobile phone used in connection of an offence under the drugs misuse act part 2 and possess property suspected of having been used in connection with the commission of a drug offence.

The court heard in the midafternoon on October 31, 2021, Guttridge and a group of other people went to the victim’s Newport home.

The court heard the victim approached her fence and told Guttridge, who was 19 at the time, and her associates to go away.

Police prosecutor Senior Sergeant David Pollock said Guttridge and the others ignored the victim’s request, instead Guttridge and her associates requested the victim’s adult son come out and see them in relation to another grievance.

Mr Pollock said Guttridge and the others ignored the victim’s request and forced their way through a gate, climbed over a fence and ran to a covered area next to the front door.

“The defendant shoved this victim with both hands on her chest, causing her to lose balance and force her backwards,” Mr Pollock said.

“The defendant then shoves the victim on the right shoulder, hits the sliding door of the dwelling with her hand and kicks the glass door with her foot.

“The group then leaves the garden via a gate.

“The defendant then returns into the yard of the dwelling.

“Once again the victim attempts to stop her, the defendant shakes off the victim, returns within the garden, picks up an item of footwear and runs off.”

The court also heard that on February 6, 2022, police conducted a search warrant at a Kippa-Ring address, where they seized clip seal bags, digital scales and a mobile phone with messages pertaining to possessing dangerous drugs, belonging to Guttridge, with another person charged during the search.

Guttridge’s lawyer Alan Phillips told the court that Guttridge ran her own eyelash business, worked full-time as an orderly at the Redcliffe Hospital and was enrolled for training to become a nurse.

“She said to police she’s very remorseful for her actions,” Mr Phillips said

“If she could take them back she would.

“The offending is serious and it also comes off the back of that relevant entry which is essentially a fight at the Eatons Hill pub.

“Your honour can see she had the mandatory community service imposed and otherwise had no conviction recorded.

“She’s taken steps and moved away from the area, those people she was with she’s no longer friends.”

The court also heard Guttridge is a member of the Narangba Eagles Football Club, helps her partner’s bread delivery business, in the early hours of the morning after her night shifts.

Mr Phillips submitted a bundle of Guttridge’s certificates and qualifications to the court which included certificates in hospitality, business and retail.

Magistrate Peter Cooke fined Guttridge $800 for all offences and did not record a conviction.
