More than 500 people, including 300-plus gatecrashers, have “overwhelmed” police at an out-of-control party on a property north of Brisbane, sparking a warning from law enforcement.
In a release from Queensland Police, Senior Constable Jo Arthur said police from Burpengary called on officers from neighbouring divisions to assist them at a large party on acreage at Raynbird Road at Narangba on March 13.
“Police were alerted to the party when over 500 people arrived as a result of social media messaging,” she said.
“The host of the party had invited 200 guests but it was soon overrun by people they did not know.
“Even though a security guard had been hired for the event, they were soon overwhelmed by the party goers who, on police arrival were acting in a disorderly, offensive, threatening and violent manner.
“This event involved no arrests but did take seven officers away from other duties. Police remained to ensure there was no damage to public property and that people remained safe as the crowd dispersed.”
No one was charged from the party.
The event sparked a warning from police with Senior Constable Arthur urging people to register their parties.
“Police respond to numerous parties each weekend and with social media in play, they are becoming bigger and bigger,” she said.
Police would like to remind everyone to register their parties and be aware of the out of control event legislation.
“As the host, you may be liable if your party gets out of control and is declared an out of control event.
Please be aware of the legislation and implications before hosting a party.”
