Phillip Walsh: Fundraiser launched for Mango Hill father of two found dead

The community has rallied around Phillip Walsh’s family after the Mango Hill father was found dead on the Sunshine Coast after a frantic search.

The family of a man who was killed in a tragic accident on the Sunshine Coast has received a groundswell of support through a fundraising campaign.

Father of two Phillip Walsh was found at Mount Beerwah two days after a frantic search and rescue effort was launched.

The 33-year-old was last seen at Redcliffe before police located his car in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Mr Walsh’s body was found by a team of local climbers after hours of searching the thick terrain.

It’s understood Mr Walsh slipped and fell while climbing.

A GoFundMe has been launched to help raise funds to assist with funeral and living expenses for his wife Emma and sons Koopa and Oliver.

Emily Hawrylko has organised the fundraiser writing: “ Phillip was a beautiful soul who sadly lost his life too soon.”

“He prided himself on being a father and friend, he will be missed by everyone whose life he touched.

“We are hoping to raise money to put towards a beautiful funeral celebration of Phillip’s life and help his gorgeous family out in the toughest time of their lives.”

Ms Hawrylko wrote that “even the smallest amount anyone can donate would be so greatly appreciated.”

His wife Emma Walsh has paid tribute to her high school sweetheart with his death leaving a hole in the close-knit family’s life.

The pair share two boys; Koopa, 11, and Oliver, who recently turned eight.

“He was an amazing father, he was very kind, encouraging, extremely supportive of the boys and myself as well,” Ms Walsh said.

“He was very hands on, he wanted to show them everything, teach them.”

Phillip also leaves behind his heartbroken mother Kerrie, sister Kim and their wider family.

The beloved plasterer worked for a company on the Gold Coast alongside his uncle, his brother-in-law and cousins.

Ms Walsh wrote online: “I can't even put into words how grateful and humble we all are for your contributions, kind words (and) the memories you've been sharing.”

“I just want to say from my heart how incredibly grateful I am.

“Without you all I don't know what we would do. Phillip was our rock, there was nothing more important to him then our boys. “

So far, $6375 has been raised from 64 donors.
