A popular Moreton Bay region woman is being mourned by loved ones and a church community following her death from injuries sustained in a car and truck crash north of Brisbane.
Caboolture resident Patricia Keys Ballard died on July 20 after spending almost a week in the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with serious injuries following the crash in Burpengary on July 14.
It is understood the car she and her husband were travelling in collided with a truck.
According to police, the car and truck collided on Oakey Flat Rd before both vehicles left the road shortly before 3pm.
Mrs Ballard, 82, was married to her husband, Joe, for more than 60 years.
She was a valued member of the Moreton community with members of her church, the Anglican Parish of Caboolture, mourning the loss a significant part of their congregation.
“Pat was a great woman of faith and action,” Reverend Avriel Green said.
“Her faith in Jesus Christ was firm and unwavering. She did not fear death and spoke about it often.
“This was balanced with being a woman of action – knitting, sewing, and sharing her life with visits to lots of shut-ins and elderly people.
“Every knew and liked Pat. She shared her life and love of others openly and without limit. “We will miss Pat — the woman and friend she was. Until we meet again.”
Friends and family members also paid tribute to Mrs Ballard on social media following her death.
“Rest in nothing but peace Aunty Pat,” her niece said.
The driver of the truck, a 68-year-old Narangba man, also spent time in hospital following the crash.
Investigations are ongoing.
