Friends of a teenager killed in a fatal crash south of Brisbane have shared touching tributes as they remember the man following the accident where his car collided with a large dump truck.
Boyland resident Kai Phillips died after the crash in Tamborine just before 4pm on Friday.
Police said information indicated Mr Phillips’ black 2013 Ford Fiesta was travelling west along Mundoolun Connection Rd, approaching the Beaudesert Beenleigh Rd intersection, when his car and a truck travelling south collided.
An off duty paramedic attempted to revive the 18-year-old but he died at the scene.
Since the tragic accident, friends of Mr Phillips have posted emotional tributes across social media as they come to terms with his passing.
“You were always there for me ever since that first day we met,” one friend posted on Instagram.
“You were always one of the best mates I had and helped me with absolutely anything.
“You were always a real one and I’m gonna miss you every day.
“Rest easy and I’ll see you on the other side.”
Another friend posted on social media and said he was one of the most important people in her life.
“I hope you rest in peace baby, I’m gonna miss you so much,” she said.
“It feels like a big part of me just disappeared. You’re always the person who makes me feel happy and always makes me feel excited when you’re around.
“I never thought this day would come so quick.
“I’ve never loved someone so much in my life until I meet you.
“Love you so much baby.”
The truck driver was not injured.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for witnesses with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
