Pacific Paradise man charged after police dog allegedly finds 1kg of meth

Sniffing his way through the streets of Clontarf, police dog Gator was instrumental in tracking down a bag hidden in a cemetery, which police say was filled with $69,000 cash, 1kg of meth and 70 suboxone strips.
Police have arrested a 44-year-old Pacific Paradise man, tracking him down after a car veered off the road and collided with street signs and traffic lights, at 11.30pm last Thursday, at the intersection of MacDonnell Rd and Snooke St, Clontarf.
Police allege the driver fled the scene on foot but was located by police on the corner of Moss St and MacDonnell Rd, Clontarf.
The Moreton Dog Squad tracked the alleged offender from the scene of the crashed car, to check for any discarded property and for any other possible offenders.
Police dog Gator continued tracking past the offender and found the backpack hidden in a cemetery about 50m from the alleged offender.
The 44-year-old Pacific Paradise man was charged with obstruct police, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of property suspected to be proceeds of a crime, and possession of a drug utensil.
He was remanded in custody and will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on March 20.
