A mum of three has admitted to being the lookout for more than $2000 in thefts.

Jessica-Lea Rose Carruthers, 25, pleaded guilty to two counts of stealing and one count of receiving tainted property after helping another person nick batteries and a battery tester totalling $2277.78 from Battery World Morayfield.

She claimed she didn’t know her co-accused was taking the goods — which happened over the course of three different visits to the store on June 2, 2020.

“It was stupid,” she said.

“(We) shouldn’t have done it.”

Magistrate Peter Hasted said “dishonesty” wasn’t new to Carruthers, who had been convicted eight times previously for similar offences.

“I accept you didn’t do it but you were a lookout so you were part of the offence,” Magistrate Hasted said.

Carruthers said her life had taken a turn south after moving to Caboolture.

“It’s up to you what you think of this area but there are good people in this area,” Magistrate Hasted said.

“What we’ve done previously (for sentencing) hasn’t worked,” he said, before sentencing Carruthers to two months’ jail, immediately suspended for 18 months on each count.
