YOUTH in this suburb will soon have more to do with a revamped skate park, upgraded BMX track and multipurpose sports court on the way.
Moreton Bay Regional Councillor James Houghton (Div 5) said he was working with the Deception Bay PCYC, fellow councillors and Federal LNP Member for Petrie Luke Howarth to deliver more outdoor activity spaces for Deception Bay.
Regular skate park users Liam Black and Elyjah Deshong said the facility needed an upgrade.
Liam, 12, said he would like to see the whole layout of the skate park changed and an entertainment area added.
Elyjah, 12, said he wanted features such as a spine added to the park and some water bubblers.
Cr Houghton said council would complete maintenance upgrades at the Deception Bay skate park in coming months.
“As a priority I would like to see council address some drainage issues, repair uneven surfaces and make improvements to footpath connectivity at the skate park,” Cr Houghton said.
He said all levels of government would have to work together to fund a multipurpose outdoor youth area near the PCYC.
