Moreton Bay pool builders in liquidation due to economic challenges

The husband and wife team behind a Moreton Bay pool construction company have been forced into liquidation, unable to cope with increasingly difficult business conditions.

A Moreton Bay pool-building business, headed up by a director and his wife, has gone into liquidation.

Crown Pools & Spas at shop 4/25 Discovery Dr, North Lakes, entered into voluntary liquidation this month.

The business, which focused on building ‘quality in-ground swimming pools’ employed four staff members, which included the couple.

Crown Pools & Spas ceased trading sometime between October 16-20, before accounting firm Hall Chadwick was appointed as the liquidator on October 20.

Hall Chadwick’s James Court said the director couldn’t meet the minimum financial requirements of a licence with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission.

Mr Court added he needs to take a look at the books to determine exactly how much is owed to creditors, with the director of Crown Pools & Spas needing to hand those over by next week.

“Most people in construction are struggling a little bit,” Mr Court said.

“The revenue has decreased in the last year from what we’ve seen as a result of interest rates rising, and people unable to spend money on luxuries.

“The costs and materials have also gone up for installing pools and by the looks of it, this is what’s happened. (to Crown Pools & Spas)”
