Moreton Bay cattle property poised to turn into winery and tourist park

A $4m cattle property in Moreton Bay is poised to be transformed into a large winery and wellness retreat. SEE THE PLANS

Construction begins on new $22 million Brisbane Roar Women’s headquarters

Six vineyards, a winery, tourist park and wellness retreat have been pegged for development at a $4m Moreton Bay cattle property.

Laura Heazlewood, the owner of the Kurwongbah property at 201 Brown Creek Road, has lodged an application to develop a winery with two-level food and drink building.

The proposal involves six vineyards, a tourist park with 85 cabins and a spa and wellness retreat, along with a restaurant and cellar door.

It is understood the restaurant and wellness centre will provide services to customers at the eco-retreat and tourist park as well as being open to members of the public.

The six vineyards will be established on land between a check-in pavilion and carparking area.

The 85 eco cabins, to be built in the northeast corner of the site on an elevated area, would be lightweight designed structures, elevated on stumps and possibly located among trees to enhance the visual amenity.

The health and wellness retreat at the tourist park would provide day-spa style relaxation services for guests including massage, flat tanks and a swimming pool.

Guests would enter the two-level restaurant building at the top level from the tourist park.

Private dining rooms and large void areas would overlook the main dining room, the cellar door tasting area and the winery production area.

The restaurant building would also include a central administration area for the tourist park and winery.

“The overall design is considered to provide a high quality tourist facility that is attractive and engaging, with a high standard of architectural presence,” the application reads.

“The overall design intent for the development is to locate new buildings among the trees to maximise the visual amenity and outlook for guests, while also blending with the scenic amenity of the site and promoting an environmentally sensitive built form.

Property records show Ms Heazlewood bought the land in 2021 for $4.1 million.

To protect an existing Koala Protection Habitat, extensive habitat replanting and restoration is proposed throughout the eastern and northeastern part of the site.

There would be 173 carparks on site for holiday goers and the visiting public.
