Construction of a new medical centre, chemist and additional shops has been pegged on the fringes of Burpengary, as a local business of more than 10 years looks to expand.

Austwide Property Medical Pty Ltd has lodged an application to establish health care services, shop and food and drink outlet, at 658 Morayfield Road, Burpengary, near the busy Morayfield Rd and Aquatic Centre Drive roundabout.

The proposed built form will include a medical centre, chemist, and cafe, with the two remaining tenancies to accommodate allied health services and/or medical-related shops.

Located on the northern fringe of the Burpengary Town Centre and close access to the Bruce Hwy, the proposed medical centre would be accessed from Morayfield Road via the establishment of a new vehicle crossover and an internal concrete driveway and hardstand area.

The medical centre and other shops would be supported by 108 carpark spaces and 22 bicycle spaces.

“The proposed development provides amenities and services to satisfy the needs of local residents,” the application reads.

“The layout of the built form has been strategically designed to respond to the dimensions of the site whilst creating an attractive and visually pleasing development when viewed from Morayfield Road.

“Importantly, the subject site is considered ideal for community uses given the exposure to Morayfield Road and the existing Community Uses to the north.

“The proposed access easement and services easement that will benefit the adjoining property (650 Morayfield Road, Burpengary) will also allow the appropriate development of this property and potentially the continuation of community uses without creating another access onto Morayfield Road.”

Austwide’s proposed medical centre would be wedged between Traditional Funerals and Moreton Bay Crematorium and Memorial Park to the north, a koala habitat to the west and Morayfield Road to the east.

The proposed access is on the south side of the frontage and would accommodate all service vehicles and car movements, with left in, left out movements only permitted.
