A single mother has described the terrifying moments she heard her child scream and how she thought they were about to die during an horrific crash north of Brisbane.

Rozie Dee vividly remembers the sound of an engine roaring, followed by an enormous crash.

Her first thought was, “I’m dead, I’m done”.

The single mum was stopped at an intersection at Morayfield when a motorbike slammed into the side of her sedan.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Grant Rd and Beacon St just after 11.30am on Sunday, October 24.

Police believe a dual cab travelling north on Grant Rd began to turn left into Beacon St, when it was struck in the side by a motorcycle also travelling north on Grant Rd.

The motorcycle then struck Ms Dee’s car, which was stationary on Beacon St waiting to turn right into Grant Rd.

The 31-year-old was in the car with her son, 7, and his best friend, 8, heading to Bribie Island for a trip to the beach.

“I saw the 4WD that was involved coming and I thought of yeah I’ll wait for him and then I looked left and as I went to turn back right, all I saw was black and this big smash,” she said.

“My first though was ‘I’m done, I’m dead’, I felt my face and my side and I thought what I’m ok.

“This kids were screaming.

“It was pretty scary, I really did think I was dead.”

Ms Dee said there was no time to react.

“All I heard was the rev of the bike and just smash – I didn’t even get time to react or think about it, it just happened so fast,” Ms Dee said.

“The kids said they seen him hit the ute first, come over the island beside me and straight into my car and they saw him go over my car.

“They actually saw quite a bit more than I did being in the back seat.”

Brisbane man Ariki Evans has been identified as the victim of a shocking crash with tributes flowing in for the beloved 48-year-old Dad.

Mr Evans was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital but died shortly after arrival.

He leaves behind son Rhys, 14, and daughter Sofia, 12.

Rhys bravely paid tribute to his Dad saying he was “a very caring person”.

“He loved his family,” he said.

“That was his whole life his family and he did everything for us.

“I don’t really know what to say, I know what I’m thinking but it’s hard to say.”

Ms Dee said the experience has been extremely traumatic.

“The kids are still having dreams, and I’ve had a couple myself – you always think what you could’ve done,” she said.

“For me the most terrifying thing was I wasn’t even moving, if that can happen and you’re not even driving who knows what could’ve happened if I was actually driving.

“All I can hear in my head is them screaming, I tried my seatbelt and I couldn’t get it.

“All I could do was turn around and put my hands on their knees and make sure they were alive.

“No one deserved to lose their life that day.”

Ms Dee said she wanted to thank bystanders and first responders for their help on the day.

The crash has however left her at a huge loss.

The Morayfield mum lost her home during Covid and was forced to move in with family.

She had only recently purchased the car.

“It’s left me with no car, I have no insurance and I’m a contract cleaner and I drive for work so it’s left me without work too,” she said.

“All I can do is be calm and know that everything happens for a reason (and) be resilient enough for my son.

“The car was seized, I haven’t heard anything, who do I contact – I don’t know what my next step is.

“I’ve put in an application (for financial assistance) – just to see if I can get anything to help me moving forward with work.

“I just really don’t know where I stand from here.”

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating.
