A 27-year-old mother-of-three used stolen credit cards to make a series of fraudulent transactions in a desperate attempt to fuel her drug addiction, the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court heard on Thursday.
Cassandra Field pleaded guilty to multiple counts of fraud, one count of entering a premises to commit an indictable offence and one count of receiving tainted property.
According to police prosecutor sergeant Graham Turner, Field and her co-accused gained entry to a home on Houghton St, Petrie on September 29, via the unlocked back door.
While the occupants were asleep, a Louis Vuitton handbag, Gucci wallet, silver necklace and several bank cards were taken from the home.
The cards, belonging to victim Jessica Parker, were given to Field who used them to commit a series of fraudulent transactions across Brisbane’s north.
These included hundreds of dollars worth of purchases at 7 Eleven at Dakabin, Coles Express at Deception Bay, 7 Eleven North Lakes and multiple cab fares.
CCTV footage taken at these locations identified Field and prompted police to conduct a search of her home.
The silver necklace was found at the house, but the luxury items were not.
Sgt Graham told the court Field had also been connected to a car break-in at Alderley that occurred between midnight and 4am on September 30.
A wallet was stolen from the car, and CCTV footage later identified Field using one of the bank cards to conduct a series of transactions at the Caltex at Stafford, a car wash at Alderley and in a Black and White cab.
Field has been in custody at the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre since she was arrested on October 1 and her three children, aged 13, seven and one, have been in the care of family members.

Lawyer Brendan Beavon from Russo Lawyers told the court Field “fell into the grips of a drug addiction” and her offending was “indicative of looking for money to buy meth”.
He noted Field had lived a very difficult life and encountered more than her fair share of violence and adversity, which ultimately led her down the path of drug use.
Field expressed her remorse in a letter of apology tendered to the court, and made it clear she intended to stay sober upon her release from prison.
Magistrate Trevor Morgan sentenced Field to 12 months imprisonment with immediate parole.
