It has been revealed the well-known family mourning the tragic loss of their 21-year-old daughter to a head on collision earlier this week has suffered more tragedy than most could imagine.
Lianah Paige Power, 21, died from injuries following a traffic crash on Monday afternoon at Dayboro in the Moreton Bay region.
Her hatchback was travelling northwest on Dayboro Rd about 5.30pm, when it crossed on to the other side of the road and collided with a sedan travelling in the opposite direction.
But in even further tragedy the family was already suffering grief.
Wayne Power, Lianah’s father, shared a touching tribute to his daughter and opened up about how hard this year had been already.
“We were still recovering from what happened to my wife,” he said.
On the eve of Mother’s Day 2021, Susan Power (Lianah’s mother) was involved in a serious accident leaving her severely burnt.
Last year Lianah Power shared a GoFundMe page on Facebook to raise money for her mother’s recovery. She thought the world of her mum and did everything to help her recovery.
“I never thought I would post something like this but here I am. On Saturday night my beautiful mum was involved in a freak methol fire explosion, she is currently in ICU,” Lianah wrote at the time.
“Anyone who knows my mum knows she is the rock of the family and the most beautiful caring woman and without her the whole family falls apart.
“My amazing dad has spent every second with her since the accident and getting back to work is going to be a struggle for him.
Mrs Power suffered burns to her face, throat, arms and upper body. She spent months in hospital, and still wears a full face mask and body burns bandaging.
A few months after this Lianah’s grandfather, lost his battle with cancer.
He had been living with the Power family at their home in Warner, where they looked after him and made him comfortable while he had cancer.
The family business, Powerhouse Plastering, has also suffered immensely from the Covid-19 pandemic.
“It’s been a really tough time and honestly just feels like it’s been one thing after the other,” Mr Power said.
“We’re all just devastated.
Susan Power said she was so thankful for their friends and family during this tough time.
“I cannot thank people enough for all the love and beautiful tributes you have sent in the way of messages,” she said.
“It’s what getting us through right now…our spiritual daughter Lianah is so blessed to have known such giving and wonderful people.”
Family friend Kathleen Brown has been raising money for the funeral and helping the family.
“A family that has faced so much pain and adversity in the past 12 months, can meet each day knowing they have a community that will love, guide and support them through this heartbreaking journey,” she said.
