A man accused of murdering his mother at her home north of Brisbane will have his case heard before Pine Rivers Court on January 29 after a brief adjournment on Monday, December 18.

The body of Margarette (Margz) Smetheram was found by police in her Kallangur home in March.

Her son Leonard James Llewellyn Smetheram, 36, was later charged with the murder of the mother of four and grandmother of eight.

The River of Life Christian Church member had just celebrated 26 years of marriage to her husband.

Smetheram, from Kallangur, was due to appear before court on Monday for a committal hearing.

But the police prosecutor told Magistrate Annette Hennessy they were still awaiting a psychiatric report and 13 other reports.

Ms Hennessy adjourned the matter until January 29 and ordered Smetheram remain in custody until then.

Mrs Smetheram had previously lived in New Zealand.

A GoFundMe was set up earlier this year which described her as the “glue” of her family.
