A Moreton Bay concrete pumper was blowing up to $150 a day on methamphetamine with his then-partner in the lead-up to his decision to commence an 11-month drug trafficking operation, a court has heard.

Deception Bay man Kyle Antony Eichmann, 30, pleaded guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday to 28 counts of supplying a dangerous drug and one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

The court heard the offences of supplying a dangerous drug were committed between June 19, 2018 and November 21, 2019, with Eichmann’s drug trafficking operation lasting 11 months between January 4 last year and his arrest on November 1.

The supply offences before the trafficking commenced consisted of 18 counts of supplying cannabis and 10 counts of supplying methamphetamine.

Eichmann trafficked in street-level quantities of cannabis, MDMA and methamphetamine to a customer base of about 36 users, the court was told.

He had a severe methamphetamine addiction at the time of his offending.

Defence counsel James Feely told the court Eichmann was introduced to cannabis at 16 and progressed to methamphetamine use about five years ago following a relationship with an addict.

Mr Feely told the court during Eichmann’s trafficking period, he and his then-partner were spending up to $150 a day on their ice habits.

Eichmann had offended after his release on bail, the court had heard, with several convictions for breaching bail, failing to appear and possessing a small quantity of cannabis.

The court was told Eichmann was born in Brisbane and grew up in the Burpengary area.

He worked as a concrete pumper for many years before transitioning to truck driving for a landscaping business after he lost his job due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment, with parole-eligibility after he had served 12 months behind bars.
