Kurwongbah crash: Man dies in hospital a month after motorbike crash near Brisbane

The man who died in hospital more than a month after he was involved in a serious motorcycle crash north of Brisbane has been identified as friends flood social media with emotional tributes.

The man who died in hospital more than a month after he was involved in a serious motorcycle crash north of Brisbane has been identified as friends flood social media with emotional tributes.

Andrew Paynter was found near his motorcycle following the single-vehicle crash at Kurwongbah in the early morning of May 20.

The 33-year-old Windsor man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital but died from his injuries on Friday.

Mr Paynter’s death shocked his family and friends who shared their special memories on social media following the news.

“RIP Paynter my big brother – ️we have so many funny memories I will cherish forever. I can’t believe you are gone, you are one of the toughest soldiers, I know until we meet again,” his close friend, Reece Purtell, posted.

Another friend shared his memories of looking up to Mr Paynter when he was growing up.

“Rip brother – can’t believe this always happens to the people who are the most kind hearted people, always remember when I was a kid looking up to you and Reece as my role models, alway there for me,” he said.

“The room was always better when we heard you come in. Your definitely going to be missed. My deepest condolences to your lovely mum Kathy, I’m sorry we didn’t catch up more often. RIP PAYNTER.”

Kylie Wilson also posted on social media, reminiscing about seeing Mr Paynter grow up from a child to an adult.

“Woke up to the news you are gone, I watched U grow up in Tudor court, U, Mitch and all the other boys, my condolences to Ur mum Kathy I couldn’t think what she going through (sic),” she wrote.

“Ur cheeky smile will always be remember Paynter. Drewskii Paynter fly high bro and rest easy. way to young to go but God wanted to show he only takes the best when he called U home to paradise (sic).

“Rip Andrew Paynter fly high and keep an eye on all those U love down here (sic).”

Police say it appeared he was travelling northwest on Narangba Road towards the Dakabin railway station at the time of the crash.

Investigators continue to appeal anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the motorcycle in the area at the time, to contact them.
