Joshua Wargent’s family share loving tribute after tragic Wynnum workplace death
A doting father and footy player has been remembered by family and friends after he died after falling through a roof in a tragic workplace incident on Brisbane’s bayside.

Family and friends have paid an emotional tribute to a solar panel contractor who was killed in a workplace fall at a business on Brisbane’s bayside.
Father-of-three Joshua Wargent, 43, of Alexandra Hills fell through a roof while conducting maintenance on solar panels at a business on Gibbs St at Wynnum on June 29.
The 43-year-old was the Redlands area contractor for EcoKleen Solar, a nationwide company specialising in the cleaning, maintaining and installation of solar panels.
One of Mr Wargent’s sons took to Facebook this morning to share his heartbreak at his dad’s tragic death.
“RIP to the best dad ever,” he wrote.
“Dad I love u so much and I don't know what to do without you now I’m gonna miss u so much, ur (sic) gonna be missed.”
Another of his sons Tahn, said his dad wasn’t just his dad but his best mate.
“I love you so much, I can’t process all of this at the moment its all to much I’m gonna forever miss you dad, I love you,” he wrote.
“It’s killing me, he was more than just my dad he was my best mate.”
Friends also took time to remember Mr Wargent, with one crediting his love for his sons as the reason he ‘got his s--t together’.
“You will be missed by all. Tragic news,” another post read.
“Having a coldie for you now.”
“Until we meet again brother.
“Taken way too soon Joshy. So many good memories.”
Mr Wargent was also a much-loved figure in the local sporting community, especially playing masters Aussie rules football for the Bayside Bombers.
That community is also in mourning with AFL Masters Queensland posting a tribute on social media.
“Yesterday was a sad day for the AFL Masters Queensland Footy family to learn of the tragic passing of Josh Wargent, who was involved in a work accident on 29 June 2023,” the post said.
“Josh was well-respected and much loved character at the Bayside Bombers AFL Masters club and has been involved in AFL for many years.
“He will be deeply missed and our sincerest condolences go to Josh’s family and friends during this difficult time.
“RIP Josh.”
A GoFundMe campaign has also been set up to assist Mr Wargent’s family with funeral costs and ongoing support.
Mr Wargent’s close friend, Simon Jennings who started the GoFundMe page, said he was gutted.
“He was a devoted father of three kids and stepfather to another three, he ran his own business and was passionate about his work,” he said.
“He played footy with the Bayside Bombers, he would help anyone with anything, he had the biggest heart.
“He will be missed by many.”
