A Moreton Bay meth addict has been jailed for 23 offences, including delivering a packet of cigarettes to a friend in hospital, despite being disqualified from driving at the time.

On one occasion Kallangur’s Tiffany Leigh Lockhart, 40, denied driving a car while disqualified — despite holding the keys to the car, which had its brake lights on.

She then fessed up to having done a McDonald’s run, Pine Rivers Magistrate Court heard.

The court also heard that, during a year-long spree of drugs, weapons and traffic offending, Lockhart injected methamphetamine before later getting behind the wheel of a car.

She pleaded guilty on Friday (June 17) to charges including multiple disqualified driving offences, drug driving, possession of a knife in a public place, failing to appear in court and unlawful use of a vehicle.

The offences occurred between March 10, 2020 and September 17 last year.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Daniel Baulderstone said the charges including an incident on May 8, 2020, in which Lockhart was caught driving while disqualified.

A year later, on June 23, 2021, she was again caught driving while disqualified, that time on Gympie Rd, Lawnton.

“You were seen reaching around inside the car and stopped at the Lawnton Tavern,’’ Magistrate Melanie Ho said.

“You told police you did not have a licence and knew you shouldn’t have been driving, saying you were bringing smokes to a friend in hospital.’’

On September 26 Lockhart was again caught driving while disqualified, on Warner Rd, Brendale.

Sergeant Baulderstone said Lockhart had claimed she was not the driver.

“However, the break lights were on and she had the keys. She then made full admissions to driving from McDonald’s,” he said.

He said the other offences included possessing dangerous drugs, failing to dispose of a needle, stealing and possession of drug utensils.

Lockhart’s lawyer, Rory Cunningham, said his client understood the seriousness of the charges.

“She’s on her last chance, I agree. No doubt about that,” Mr Cunningham said.

Magistrate Ho warned Lockhart her offending put her “well within the range of imprisonment, no doubt about that”.

But she said an unlawful use of a vehicle charge was “unusual’’ in that the vehicle’s owner knew Lockhart well and also knew Lockhart was using drugs.

“The disqualified driving charges are the primary concern of the court (however),” Magistrate Ho said.

“It’s well and truly clear that you’re not supposed to drive.’’

She convicted Lockhart and sentenced her to nine months’ imprisonment, with immediate parole, for the disqualified driving charges.

Lockhart was also disqualified from driving for a further two years.

She was convicted and received a six-month disqualification for drug driving and received a six months’ probation order for the remaining charges.
