Kallangur man charged over string of break-ins at north Brisbane cafes

A man has been charged in connection with a spate of thefts from north Brisbane cafes and takeaway shops.
Investigators from the Gateway Property Crime Team and North Brisbane Criminal Investigation Branch launched Operation Tango Jumpstreet in response to more than 20 allegedly linked break-ins and thefts from businesses in North Lakes, Kallangur, Nundah, Boondall, Aspley, Strathpine, Gatton, Newport and Warner.
Detectives will allege the offences happened between February and March.
The have alleged significant damage was caused to a pizza takeaway businesses and cafes, with cash drawers, safes and ATMs targeted in the break-ins across Brisbane’s north and Moreton.
Detectives yesterday executed a search warrant on a Kallangur home where a number of items alleged to have been used during the offences were seized.
An amount of property including tools was also allegedly recovered linked to a break and enter at New Port.
A 29-year-old Kallangur man has been charged with 30 offences.
He appeared in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court today and has been remanded in custody to reappear on April 6.
Police said investigations were ongoing and further charges were likely.
