A new fruit and vegetable grocer is giving supermarket chains a run for their money.
Jordan Valley Fruit, in Margate Village Shopping Centre, recently opened just 100m from a Woolworths in the same centre and is already managing to lure customers away from its rivals.
“Been there twice so far,” a resident posted on Facebook.
“Very friendly people, fresh produce, a whole better variety and cheaper than Coles and Woolworths. I’m sold.’’
Another happy customer posted: “Lovely fresh produce and a great range of other products as well, plus cheaper than Woolies.
“I’ll certainly shop there again.”
Some customers have even been tempted from Redcliffe, not just the immediate Margate area.
“Food is excellent quality and I'm really happy with their prices. Lovely people too,” a Redcliffe local said.
Another said: “even their lemons are great, large, naturally ripened, sweet and lots of lovely skin for zesting...oh and generous bunches of fresh herbs. Goodbye Woolies.”
