Griffin resident, Unaiki Lee Robinson, charged for common assault

A Brisbane woman has been sentenced after assaulting another woman in a laundromat over ‘dirty washing’.

A woman has been sentenced for assault following a brawl at a north Brisbane laundromat.

Griffin resident, Unaiki Lee Robinson, pleaded guilty in Pine Rivers Magistrate Court today, Monday, June 6, to one count of common assault.

The court heard the 40-year-old had put a load of washing on at the laundromat at Castle Hill shopping centre in Murrumba Downs on March 2, when she came back to find her clean clothes strewn over a wet, dirty floor, the court heard.

“The victim and her partner came into the laundromat and were being difficult that all the laundromats were used,” Robinson’s lawyer, Ms Bre-anna Bowtell said.

“Miss Robinson went in after them and saw that all of her clothes had been thrown on the floor and after she had washed them and that’s when she retaliated.”

The court heard Robinson accused the woman of taking her clothes out of the washing machine and began threatening and pushing her.

“She called her fat, sl*t, faggot, c**t,” police prosecutor Fox said.

“She pushed her in the chest.”

According to her lawyer, Robinson had suffered impact from the floods and as a result had limited clothing.

“She was affected by the floods and had limited clothing.

“Basically all of her clothes had been damaged in the flood, she went to wash her clothes, came back and found them strewn over the floor wet and dirty,” she said.

The police attended Robinson’s Griffin home where she admitted to being at the laundromat.

“The offence itself consists of bad language and a push,” Magistrate Annette Hennessey said.

Robinson was convicted and fined $500.
