Every candidate for the Moreton seats ahead of the 2020 State Election
The ballot draws have been confirmed ahead of the State Election of October 31 – here is every candidate contesting a seat in Redcliffe, Morayfield, Bancroft, Murrumba, Pine Rivers, Kurwongbah and Pumicestone.

With ballots drawn and nominations finalised the election battle has well and truly started across Moreton’s seven seats with issues such as development, transport, health and crime common to all.
The seats of Redcliffe, Murrumba, Pine Rivers, Morayfield, Kurwongbah and Bancroft are all held by the ALP.
Here is a full break down of every candidate running in the 2020 State Election
Redcliffe
The seat of Redcliffe has been held by Yvette D’Ath since the 2014 by-election.
LNP’s Kerri-Anne Dooley has contested the seat four times and is yet to taste victory.
The Greens’ candidate Will Simon, is just 18-years-old, one of the youngest candidates contesting this State Election.
Major issues already arising are youth crime, homelessness, roads, development and jobs.
The Redcliffe Herald will host a live virtual debate on Wednesday, October 14, putting a number of reader submitted questions to Mrs D’Ath, Ms Dooley and independent candidate Ian Philp.

Murrumba
Current Deputy Premier Steven Miles won the seat of Murrumba in 2017, after his seat of Mount Cooth-ha was abolished in redistribution.
LNP candidate Yvonne Barlow is no stranger to an election campaign having served on the former Pine Rivers Shire Council for 11 years from 1997-2008.
Major issues will be getting work started on the Dohles Rocks Road ramp upgrade – which has already received Federal funding and improved parking at Mango Hill train station.

Morayfield
This seat, covering Caboolture and surrounding suburbs is considered a safe Labor seat.
State Labor MP Mark Ryan has held the seat since 2015. He also previously held the seat from 2009-2012.
Candidates Amy Smith (The Greens), Rodney Hansen (Pauline Hanson’s One Nation) and Jason Snow all contested various divisions in this year’s Moreton Bay Regional Council election.
Mr Snow contested the seat in 2017 as a LNP candidate but is this year running as an independent.
One Nation’s Rodney Hansen finished second behind Mr Ryan in the 2017 election.
Major issues in this electorate this year will be health, road congestion and development.

Bancroft
Covering parts of Deception Bay, Rothwell, North Lakes, Burpengary East and Mango Hill – this electorate was only created in the lead up to the 2017 election following redistribution.
Former Labor MP for Murrumba Chris Whiting got an easy win in 2017 with 42 per cent of the vote.
Major concerns for voters in this area are education, infrastructure and development.

Pumicestone
The seat of Pumicestone covers the northern part of the Moreton Bay region including Bribie Island, Beachmere, Sandstone Point and Ningi.
The LNP have moved Fiona Gaske, a former Balonne Shire councillor of eight years and Deputy Mayor for four, to the area after sitting MP Simone Wilson announced she would retire in September last year – despite only being elected in 2017.
Labor led on first preferences with 35.6% from the LNP’s Simone Wilson on 29.9 per cent in 2017. One Nation 23.3 per cent. One Nation preferences delivered a narrow victory to Wilson. Controversial politician Rick Williams polled just 4.6 per cent of the vote.
So it is no surprise this electorate will be a battleground.
Labor have already made big promises for a new sateliate hospital on Bribie Island.

Labor’s Nikki Boyd has held this seat, which covers Strathpine, Warner, Samford, Dayboro and Bray Park, since 2015.
Seath Holswich was the last LNP MP to hold the seat in 2012 – lasting just the one term.
LNPs candidate Kara Thomas contested the 2017 election in the seat of Bancroft.

A safe Labor seat Shane King has held the seat since 2015 when he was first elected as the MP for Kallangur. The electorate was renamed to Kurwongbah in 2017.
LNP candidate Kerry Petrus has spent the past 12 years working as a high school teacher at several local schools.
